The first set of beneficiaries of the Lagos Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme (LagosHOMS) have achieved full ownership of their properties, completing their 10-year payment obligations, and in fulfilling the state's promise, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented Exit Certificates to the allottees, marking a decade of social housing delivery through LagosHOMS.
Since its inception in 2014, over 20,000 Lagosians have subscribed to the scheme, making it easier for low- and middle-income families to own decent homes.
While presenting the certificates to the beneficiaries, Sanwo-Olu highlighted the scheme's success and his administration's commitment to addressing the housing deficit and making affordable home ownership options available to lagosians. Also, a new redemption policy was introduced, allowing allottees to exit the mortgage contract after six years.
The Governor also named the Ilupeju LagosHOMS Estate after late Oba Olatunji Hamzat, father of the Deputy Governor.
