Chief Dr. Vincent Iweanoge Appointed Chair of Maryland’s African Affairs Commission

Dr. Vincent Chukwunonso Iweanoge has a remarkable story of success and service. Born in Nigeria, he moved to the U.S. as a young man and pursued his education and career in law and business. He is the founder and CEO of Hotel Concept Group Inc, a hospitality company that operates hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Africa. He is also the principal director of Havit Inc., a business development consulting firm that provides strategic advice and solutions to clients in various sectors, including energy, trade, and power.

But Dr. Iweanoge is not just a successful entrepreneur. He is also a dedicated philanthropist and advocate for the African communities in America. He has served as the chairman of the African Diaspora Advisory Board of Prince George’s County, Maryland, where he initiated several programs and projects to empower the African diaspora. He has also received the African Diaspora Living Legend Global Business Icon for Sustainable Wealth Creation 2023 Award in Frankfurt, Germany, for his exemplary achievements and contributions to the African continent and the global community.

On December 6th, 2023, Dr. Iweanoge added another feather to his cap. He was appointed as the chair of the Governor’s Commission on African Affairs by Maryland Governor Wes Moore. The announcement was made on the same day, and the appointment is effective immediately.

The Governor’s Commission on African Affairs is an advisory body that provides guidance and recommendations to the Governor on matters relating to the African communities in Maryland, such as economic development, education, health, housing, and cultural affairs. The Commission also serves as a liaison between the Governor and the African communities and fosters their welfare and interests.

In a part of the appointment letter, Governor Moore expressed his appreciation to Dr. Iweanoge for his leadership and commitment to advancing equity and inclusion across the state and to serving the best interests of all the citizens. Maryland, also known as the Old Line State, is the richest state in America for 2022, with the highest median household income in the country. It is home to about 35% of African-Americans and hosts several federal agencies, such as the National Security Agency and the National Institutes of Health, as well as the world’s largest hotel company: Marriott International.

The appointment of Dr. Iweanoge as the chair of the Governor’s Commission on African Affairs is a testament to his outstanding achievements and contributions to the African communities in America and beyond.
