His Royal Majesty Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa,the
Oba of Benin Kingdom is said to
be dead. The story which is yet to be confirmed at the time of this report, has
thrown the entire people of Edo state into pandemonium as sympathizers were
seen by LEKKI PEOPLE magazine reports, thronging the Obas Palace in tears. Although
statements from the Oba’s palace
debunked the story as a rumour, however, a source hinted that his death
was kept a secret because by Benin tradition, the death of an Oba is authoritatively
announced 30 days after his demise. Other unconfirmed reports surmised that The
Oba was said to have died in his palace. Immediately he was confirmed dead by
his personal physician, a delegation of senior Benin chiefs went to the house
of the heir apparent the throne, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa to inform him of the
development.
